Ken Coleman: We move on to the top of the 8th here in Kansas City. 2 runs on 7 hits for the Tribe, 3 runs on 6 hits for the Athletics. Tito Francona leads off, he'll be followed by Piersall and Kirkland. Tito has singled, walked and doubled... The pitch is hit to right field, Stephens has room, he... drops it and that's gonna send Tito to 2nd on what should be an error...(Piersall strikes out, then Kirkland grounds to pitcher, Francona holding at 2nd) With 2 down, here's Woodie Held, who's singled in 3 trips... The pitch is swung on and lined to left, base hit. Tito rounds 3rd, he will score, tying the score at 3!(Dillard grounded to 2nd, ending the inning) In the Cleveland 8th, 1 run, 1 hit, 1 error, 1 left. After 7-1/2, Indians 3, Kansas City 3.
Coleman: Gary Bell returns for the bottom of the 8th tied at 3, he'll face the top of the A's order starting with the 2nd baseman Lumpe. He's 0-for-3... The pitch is grounded to Phillips, who bobbles and will have to eat it for an error. And the bottom of the 8th starts the same way as the top with an error. Dick Howser left the game due to injury in the 5th, he was replaced by Deron Johnson, now Joe Gordon decides he wants a bunter to get Lumpe to 2nd and brings in Les Hankins to pinch-hit... The pitch is bunted to Tito at 1st, he throws Hankins out, Lumpe to 2nd, one away and it looks like Gary Bell has rung for the last time. Jimmy Dykes will make a double-switch, bringing Frank Funk in to pitch and Vic Power to play 1st, moving Tito to left and leaving Don Dillard to a seat on the bench.(Funk retired Wayne Causey on a fly to center, sending up Leo Posada with 2 outs and runner on 2nd) Posada's 1-for-3... The pitch is lined past Bubba at 3rd, base hit, Lumpe rounds 3rd and scores as the A's regain the lead, 4-3.(Del Greco popped to 2nd, ending the inning) In the bottom of the 8th, 1 run, 1 hit, 1 error, 1 left. After 8, Kansas City 4, Tribe 3.
