BOSTON-Pete Runnels' 2-run triple in the bottom of 8th gave the surprising Boston Red Sox a 4-2 win over the Washington Senators this afternoon at Fenway Park.
The Sawx were also spurred by the pitching of Don Schwall, who struck out 8 and survived an 8th inning jam in which the Nats scored twice, tying the score at 2 before Runnels' heroics in the bottom of the inning.
The win was the 8th in 12 games for the Sox.
